Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Staff FPGA Engineer to join our space-hardware team in Austin, TX. You will lead FPGA design, verification, and deployment across HDL level development for satellites and aerospace systems, collaborating with system engineering, hardware, and software teams.

The ideal candidate has deep FPGA experience, a strong track record deploying designs for space programs, and excellent communication skills to present design reviews and proposals to customers and leadership.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited university.
• 12 years of FPGA design, analysis, and HDL implementation experience.
• Proficiency in VHDL and/or Verilog design capture.
• Experience with radiation-tolerant FPGA devices and mitigation.
• Expertise in synthesis, place-and-route and timing closure.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead FPGA design and verification efforts for space-based programs.
• Define architecture, interfaces, and specifications with cross-functional teams.
• Develop FPGA architecture from system requirements and SWAP-C estimates.
• Present design reviews and contribute to proposals.
• Mentor junior FPGA designers to improve efficiency and quality.
• Monitor emerging technologies for future space product development.
