Job summary

Dechert LLP in New York is seeking a Senior Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis. This hands-on role focuses on advanced modeling, forecasting, cost and cash flow analysis, and executive-level financial presentation support.

You will partner with Finance, BI, and leadership to translate data into actionable business insights. The role requires 7+ years in FP&A within professional services, a strong modeling background, and the ability to own analyses end-to-end in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, IS, or STEM required; MBA preferred.
• 7+ years in a professional services FP&A role.
• Strong FP&A foundations: forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, profitability, scenario modeling, cash flow, exec reporting.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling; able to explain complex models.
• Strong PowerPoint and exec presentation skills to translate analysis into decision-ready materials.
• Experience with large data sets; familiarity with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Python, SSMS, Elite, Aderant, or similar BI/financial systems.
• Excellent communication, time management, and adaptability.
• Demonstrated ability to lead workstreams and influence stakeholders in a flat team.

Responsibilities

• Independently build, maintain, and enhance complex financial models for revenue forecasting, cost analysis, cash flow, rate, profitability, and scenario modeling.
• Develop revenue forecasts incorporating historical trends, billing patterns, staffing, and business drivers.
• Support growth analyses including revenue, compensation, staffing, expenses, cash flow impact, and sensitivity scenarios.
• Prepare executive-ready analyses and presentations for leadership and senior staff.
• Analyze performance drivers: hours, rates, realization, collections, leverage, client profitability, and market trends.
• Collaborate with BI and finance teams to leverage data sources, dashboards, and reporting tools.
• Translate data into concise insights to inform planning, pricing, staffing, and investments.
• Conduct detailed expense, headcount, compensation, and operating cost analyses for budgets and forecasts.
• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasts, long-range planning, and leadership-facing materials.
• Respond quickly to ad hoc requests with data framing and clear findings.
• Benchmark performance against internal and external data to identify risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate effectively in a flat team environment, providing hands-on analytical capacity.
