Job summary

Dechert seeks a Senior Manager, FP&A in Chicago to lead complex financial modeling, forecasting, cost and cash flow analysis, and rate analysis. You will translate firm data into actionable insights for leadership and partner with Finance/Data Analytics teams.

This senior individual contributor role requires ownership of nuanced analysis, executive-ready materials, and strong Excel/PowerPoint skills, with a focus on budgeting, scenario modeling, and strategic planning for a professional services

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Business, IS, or STEM major; MBA preferred.
• 7+ years of FP&A experience in a professional services environment.
• Strong FP&A foundation: forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, profitability analysis, scenario modeling, cash flow, and executive reports.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling; ability to explain complex models independently.
• Strong PowerPoint and executive presentation skills; translate analysis into concise materials.
• Experience with large data sets; familiarity with SQL, BI tools (Power BI/Tableau), Python, or finance systems is preferred.
• Excellent communication, time management, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Independently build and maintain complex financial models for revenue forecasting, cost analysis, cash flow, rate analysis, profitability, and scenario modeling.
• Develop revenue forecasts using historical trends, activity data, staffing, and business drivers.
• Support growth analyses including projection of revenue, compensation, staffing, expenses, and profitability.
• Prepare financial analyses and executive-ready presentations for leadership with clear narrative, risks, and actions.
• Analyze drivers like hours, rates, realization, leverage, and client profitability; benchmark against data.
• Collaborate with BI and finance teams to leverage data sources and reporting tools; apply financial judgment.
• Translate data into practical insights for planning, pricing, staffing, and investments.
• Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, long-range planning, and leadership-facing materials.
• Respond to ad hoc requests by framing issues, identifying data needs, and communicating findings.
