Job summary

Dechert LLP seeks a Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis in Washington, DC to lead complex forecasting, cost and cash-flow analyses, and rate reviews. This hands-on role translates firm data into clear strategic insights for executive leadership.

The ideal candidate will own budgets, forecasts, long-range planning, and scenario modeling, collaborating with BI and finance teams to provide decision-ready materials and narratives for senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, IS, or STEM required; MBA preferred.
• 7+ years in a professional services FP&A role.
• Strong FP&A foundation: forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, profitability, scenario modeling, cash flow.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling; ability to explain complex models.
• Strong PowerPoint for executive presentations; translate analysis into concise materials.
• Experience with large data sets; familiarity with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Python, SSMS, Elite, Aderant or BI/financial systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and enhance complex financial models for revenue forecasting, cost analysis, cash flow, rates, profitability, and scenario modeling.
• Develop revenue forecasts using historical trends, billing, staffing, and business drivers.
• Support strategic growth analyses, including revenue projections, compensation, staffing, and cash flow impact.
• Prepare executive-ready analyses and presentations for firm leadership and office heads.
• Analyze performance drivers: hours, rates, realization, collections, leverage, client profitability, and market trends.
• Collaborate with BI and finance teams to leverage data sources, dashboards, and reporting tools.
• Translate data into actionable insights for planning, pricing, staffing, investment, and decisions.
• Conduct detailed expense, headcount, compensation, and cost analyses to support budgets and forecasts.
• Assist with annual budget, forecasts, long-range planning, and leadership-facing materials.
• Respond to senior leadership ad hoc requests with framing, data gathering, analysis, and clear findings.
• Benchmark performance against internal and market data to identify risks and opportunities.
• Contribute to a flat, collaborative team environment with hands-on analytical support.
