Job summary

PagerDuty seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer (SRE Agent) to join our customer-focused SRE Agent team. You will work inside PagerDuty’s largest accounts, connecting the SRE Agent to production environments and guiding teams from AI-assisted to autonomous actions with safety guardrails.

You will contribute code back to the core product, building reusable tools and connectors. The role requires a strong software engineering background, hands-on experience shipping LLM/agent systems to production,

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building and shipping production software across team boundaries.
• Hands-on experience with LLM and agent systems in production, including agent development, tool-use frameworks, evaluation pipelines, and guardrail design.
• Customer-facing skills to run technical design sessions and present business cases to leadership.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and able to deliver working software from vague problems.
• A track record of shipping software that gets adopted and generalizes across customers.
• Infrastructure & deployment expertise with Terraform or Pulumi at scale, GitOps (ArgoCD or equivalent), CI/CD design, and progressive delivery patterns.
• Willingness to travel 25–50% during active customer engagements.

Responsibilities

• Embed and drive SRE Agent adoption with 2–4 strategic customer teams.
• Build and contribute core agent capabilities and reusable tools.
• Run pilots, unblock customer adoption, and address blockers.
• Integrate with production stacks and progressive delivery (Terraform, Pulumi, ArgoCD, CI/CD).
• Set technical direction and provide feedback insights to product and engineering teams.
