PagerDuty, Inc. is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer (SRE Agent) to work inside our largest customer accounts, connecting the SRE Agent to production environments and guiding teams from AI-assisted incident response to supervised and autonomous actions with safety guardrails.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, shipping LLM/agent systems to production, and strong customer-facing skills to bridge technical work with business goals. This is a hybrid role with travel 25–50%.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building and shipping production software across team boundaries.
• Hands-on experience with LLM and agent systems in production, including agent development, tool-use frameworks (MCP or equivalent), evaluation pipelines, and guardrail design.
• Customer-facing skills: ability to run technical design sessions with a customer’s engineers and present business cases to leadership.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and startup-like environment; able to derive working software from vague problems.
• A track record of shipping software that gets adopted and generalizes to customer needs.
• Infrastructure & Deployment expertise: Terraform or Pulumi at scale, GitOps (ArgoCD or equivalent), CI/CD design, canary/blue-green strategies.

Responsibilities

• Embed and drive SRE Agent adoption with 2–4 strategic customer teams onsite.
• Build and contribute core agent capabilities and reusable tools and connectors.
• Run pilots, identify blockers, and push production fixes into the product.
• Integrate with IaC, GitOps, CI/CD pipelines and observability stacks.
• Define 3–6 month technical roadmaps and provide architectural guidance from customer feedback.
