Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer in North America to lead high‑complexity projects, oversee a fire protection group, and deliver consulting services with strong client satisfaction. You will guide design, code analyses, and development of standards, while mentoring staff and coordinating with internal and external teams.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Building codes and NFPA standards; UFC familiarity preferred.
• Strong knowledge of fire suppression and fire alarm systems – design and commissioning.
• Reviews work for accuracy; manages time to meet budget and schedule.
• Collaborates with project teams and clients in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Strong technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Revit, and AutoCAD.
• CFD modeling experience with tools like FDS/ASCOS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead large projects of high complexity.
• Conduct building/fire/life safety code reviews and analyses.
• Prepare and present technical reports and presentations.
• Engage in design development through sketches and models.
• Lead project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in client meetings, value analysis, and cost estimating.
• Provide direct supervision and mentoring to staff.
• QA/QC on projects and peers' work.
• Assist in developing new fire engineering standards/specs.
• Develop project scope, budget, and design approach.
• Support Business Development, including proposals.
• Oversee multiple concurrent projects.
