Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our North America Fire Protection Engineering Team in a professional services environment. You will lead large, high-complexity projects and guide a team through all phases of project lifecycle. The role requires solid knowledge of NFPA codes, fire suppression and alarm systems, and P.E.

registration. You will develop design approaches, mentor staff, and participate in business development to deliver client satisfaction and on-time

Qualifications

Knowledge and application of Building codes and NFPA standards; UFC familiarity preferred.
Strong knowledge of fire suppression and fire alarm systems, design and commissioning.
Performs technical reviews for accuracy, manages time to meet budgets and schedules.
Collaborates with internal and external teams in project delivery.
Excellent technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Lead large projects of high complexity.
Conduct building/fire/life safety code reviews and analyses.
Prepare and present technical reports and presentations.
Engage in design development through sketches, models, diagrams and formats.
Lead project coordination meetings with internal/external teams, owners and contractors.
Participate in client meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
Provide direct supervision to assigned staff; mentor to strengthen technical abilities.
Conduct QA/QC on projects and peer work.
Assist in developing new standards and specifications for the fire engineering group.
Develop project scope, budget, and design approach for varied projects.
Assist with Business Development incl. proposals and presentations.
Oversee and manage multiple concurrent projects.
