Job summary

MBE CPAs is seeking a Controller to serve as the organization’s senior financial leader, providing strategic and operational oversight across accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, risk, internal controls, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will collaborate with leadership to translate complex financial data into actionable insights that guide organizational decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
• 7–10 years of progressively responsible accounting and finance experience.
• Leadership experience of at least 3 years.
• Significant experience overseeing budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls.
• Strong grasp of GAAP and financial management best practices.
• Ability to communicate financial information to diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency with financial systems and reporting tools.
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally.

Responsibilities

• Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning, organizational growth, and major decisions.
• Lead annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes.
• Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and planning tools.
• Analyze profitability, revenue trends, labor costs, and performance metrics.
• Oversee accounting operations, GAAP compliance, and month/year-end closes.
• Coordinate audits and tax filings for affiliated entities.
• Lead cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and risk management.
• Establish and maintain internal controls and financial governance.
