Job summary

SEH is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our Finance/Accounting team in a remote capacity open to most US states. You will lead all accounting operations, support audits, and partner with leadership on financial strategy and process improvement.

The ideal candidate has CPA credentials, extensive experience in end-to-end accounting, and a track record of building strong accounting teams while delivering accurate reporting and analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• CPA, Active or Inactive
• Experience as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or Controller
• Experience being part of an annual financial statement audit
• Broad, hands-on expertise across end-to-end accounting operations (AP, AR, treasury, audits, close, reporting, contract review)
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Proven ability to manage and develop accounting teams
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel; leverage systems to improve processes

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close
• Evaluate emerging accounting standards and regulatory changes and advise leadership
• Maintain relationships with external auditors for audits and controls
• Manage treasury activities including cash positioning, forecasting, and banking relations
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses
• Partner with operations and leadership on budgeting and cost management
• Lead, develop, and mentor accounting staff
• Collaborate with Controller on financial strategy and process improvements
• This is a remote opportunity open to candidates in the majority of US states; relocation optional
