Job summary

ABB is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician in Virginia to deliver on-site service work per customer orders while upholding ABB quality and safety guidelines. You will perform field tasks, install, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment, ensuring customer satisfaction and timely service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with 4+ years' experience servicing critical power equipment.
• Associates Degree in electrical technology with 6+ years' experience in servicing critical power equipment.
• High School Diploma/GED and equivalent work/military experience (8+ years) servicing critical power equipment.

Responsibilities

• Work on-site with customers to identify opportunities for operational improvement and eliminate pain points.
• Perform field service tasks, including identifying technical issues and on-site troubleshooting within certified areas.
• Execute installation and commissioning, maintenance, repairs, extensions, upgrades, retrofits, end-of-life services, and replacements.
• Support the certification process of Associate Field Service Technicians and Field Service Technicians; coach technicians and supervise complex site activities; train team members and customers as needed.
• Prepare material lists for service activities and ensure availability of materials, parts, and equipment; identify potential equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Contribute to customer satisfaction by building and maintaining positive relationships; identify potential new sales opportunities and communicate them internally.
• Identify opportunities for product and quality improvements; provide recommendations to management for improving operations and customer service.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain safe work and environmental practices; report unsafe practices and incidents.
