Job summary

Rolls‑Royce plc in Charleston, SC, seeks an experienced Service Technician to independently service, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul mtu engines and propulsion systems at customer sites across North America and internationally.

The role requires high travel, strong electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, and mentoring junior technicians while delivering world-class service in marine and industrial environments.

Qualifications

• 2 years mechanical or technical trade school with 3+ years of field service experience.
• In lieu of degree, 5+ years of field service experience with mechanical or electrical troubleshooting on large diesel engines.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required; sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Travel domestically and internationally 70–100% of the time to customer sites.
• Lead field service execution: service, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul mtu engines and propulsion systems.
• Manage full job lifecycle: planning, parts/tools procurement, vendor coordination, and documentation.
• Investigate field failures, write technical reports, and collaborate on design updates to service manuals.
• Develop customers and junior colleagues, train on safe operation and troubleshooting.
