Job summary

Rolls-Royce is hiring a Service Technician for Charleston, SC. The role focuses on independent service, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of MTU engines and propulsion systems at customer sites across North America and internationally.

You will manage job planning, vendor coordination, and technical execution end-to-end, mentoring junior personnel and contributing to service documentation in a high-travel, demanding environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years mechanical or technical trade school with 3+ years of field service experience on large diesel engines or related field.
• In lieu of degree, 5+ years of field service experience with mechanical or electrical troubleshooting on large diesel engines or related field.
• U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency; ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Travel domestically and internationally 70–100% of the time, often on short notice, at customer sites.
• Lead field service execution, service, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul MTU engines, propulsion systems, and electronic controls; inspect parts and record test data.
• Own the full job lifecycle, manage timelines, prepare estimates, source parts and local vendors, and maintain logs and records.
• Investigate field failures and write technical reports to prevent future incidents; collaborate with product groups on design updates.
• Develop customers and junior colleagues, instruct safe operation, and maintain technical currency.
