Job summary

Socket.dev seeks a Sr. Field Service Engineer to lead commissioning, diagnostics, and modernization of MV/HV power systems on-site. You will be the technical authority for complex protections, relay testing, and system integration, mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with project teams.

You will diagnose transformer issues, perform advanced insulation testing, and ensure safety through strict LOTO and arc-flash controls. Travel is required to support outages and turnkey projects.

Qualifications

• 11+ years of field experience or equivalent mix of degree and on-site work.
• Ability to lead field crews and manage complex commissioning events.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E/OSHA safety practices and LOTO.
• Proven ability to read and redline schematics and one-line diagrams.
• Transformer testing and condition assessment expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning and startup of complete electrical systems with testing.
• Serve as primary technical escalation point for control and protection issues.
• Plan diagnostics for equipment and protection/control problems.
• Execute protection relay commissioning and verify settings.
• Direct field testing, mentor engineers, and ensure quality and safety.
