Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Sr. Field Service Engineer to lead complex field service, commissioning, and modernization work on power systems.

You will serve as the technical authority, interfacing with customers and project teams, while mentoring engineers and ensuring quality, safety, and continuous improvement. You will oversee commissioning, diagnostics, and modernization projects, including transformer testing and protection systems, with travel across sites.

Qualifications

11+ years of field experience with MV/HV switchgear, protection and control systems.
Ability to lead field crews and manage on-site execution for complex commissioning and service events.
Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices (NFPA 70E/OSHA) and LOTO.
Experience reading, troubleshooting, and redlining schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-line diagrams.
Experience in transformer field testing and condition assessment (DGA, SFRA, DFR).

Responsibilities

Lead commissioning and startup of complete electrical systems with acceptance testing.
Serve as the primary technical escalation point for advanced control, protection, and integration issues.
Plan and perform advanced diagnostics for equipment and protection/control issues.
Direct transformer diagnostics and commissioning across substations.
Mentor and supervise Field Service Engineers and technicians.
