Job summary

Forgent Power seeks a Sr. Field Service Engineer to serve as the technical authority for complex field service, commissioning, and modernization of low- to high-voltage power systems.

The role leads on-site execution, mentors technicians, and interfaces with customers to ensure safe operation, quality, and timely delivery. You will oversee commissioning, diagnostics (SFRA/DFR), transformer condition assessments, and system integration while driving continuous improvement and safe work practices

Qualifications

• 11+ years of field experience with MV/HV switchgear, protection and control systems or equivalent documented experience and education.
• Ability to lead field crews and manage on-site execution for complex commissioning and service events.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E/OSHA safety practices including LOTO and arc-flash risk controls.
• Experience reading, troubleshooting, and redlining schematics and one-line diagrams.
• Experience in transformer testing and condition assessment with IEEE C57 criteria.
• Ability to develop commissioning/test plans and verify I/O from drawings and sequences.
• Proven ability to write clear field reports and maintain test documentation.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel; DOT qualification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning and startup of complete electrical systems, including acceptance testing and verification of performance.
• Act as primary technical escalation point for advanced control, protection, and integration issues.
• Plan and perform advanced diagnostics for equipment and protection/control issues.
• Perform protection relay commissioning and end-to-end verification against settings files and drawings.
• Direct testing, safety compliance, and field quality across multiple work fronts.
