Job summary

Root Edge is seeking a seasoned Field Services & Commissioning Lead to own everything after equipment leaves the factory. You will be the technical authority in the field, ensuring transformers and substation gear perform flawlessly from Day 1 and throughout life, traveling to sites, commissioning with contractors, and feeding findings back to engineering.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in field services, commissioning, or related technical role with focus on power transformers.
• Deep hands-on knowledge of HV transformer design, construction, testing, and failure modes.
• Proven experience with transformer commissioning: oil sampling, DGA interpretation, insulation testing, ratio testing, protection relay coordination, energization procedures.
• Strong familiarity with QA/QC processes and enforcement discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct formal root cause failure analysis and communicate findings clearly.
• Experience managing contractors and ensuring technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead all field commissioning activities for HV transformer deployments and associated MV equipment.
• Be on-site during critical FATs, SATs, and energizations; coordinate with contractors and utility customers.
• Serve as technical point of contact during installation and commissioning.
• Interpret substation drawings and installation diagrams; ensure correct integration.
• Translate field findings into actionable feedback for engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Build field services playbook, SOPs, and escalation protocols as deployment scales.
