Job summary

Forgent Power is seeking a Sr. Field Service Engineer to act as the technical authority for complex field service, commissioning, and modernization of power systems.

You will lead on-site activities, mentor technicians, and interface with customers and project teams to ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence. Qualifications

• 11+ years of progressively responsible field experience with MV/HV switchgear, or a related engineering degree with equivalent field experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead field crews and manage on-site execution for complex commissioning and service events.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical safety practices (NFPA 70E/OSHA or equivalents).
• Proven ability to read, troubleshoot, and redline schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-line diagrams.
• Experience in transformer field testing and condition assessment, including DGA interpretation.
• Ability to develop commissioning/test plans and verify I/O from drawings and sequences of operation.
• Ability to write clear field reports and test documentation.
• Willingness to travel as required; valid driver’s license and DOT qualifications where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning and startup of complete electrical systems with acceptance testing.
• Serve as the primary technical escalation point for protection, control, and integration issues.
• Plan and perform advanced diagnostics for equipment and protection/control issues.
• Lead transformer commissioning, testing, and failure investigations.
• Direct testing activities and manage field crews, contractors, and junior engineers.
• Produce high-quality field service reports, test records, and commissioning checklists.
• Mentor Field Service Engineers and technicians across levels.
