Job summary

Forgent Power seeks a Sr. Field Service Engineer to serve as the technical authority for commissioning and modernization of power systems, including transformers and protective relays. You will lead on-site teams, ensure safety, and mentor engineers while driving quality, schedules, and continuous improvement.

The role emphasizes outage leadership, field testing, and collaboration with customers and project teams to deliver reliable, safe power system operation.

Qualifications

• 11+ years of field experience with MV/HV switchgear, protection, and control systems OR equivalent with aligned degree and field competency.
• Ability to lead field crews and manage on-site execution for complex commissioning.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E/OSHA safety practices including LOTO and arc-flash risk controls.
• Proven ability to read, troubleshoot, and redline schematics and diagrams.
• Experience with transformer condition assessment and field testing per IEEE C57 criteria.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning and startup of complete electrical systems, including acceptance testing and performance verification.
• Serve as primary technical escalation point for control, protection, and integration issues.
• Plan and perform advanced diagnostics for equipment and protection/control issues.
• Lead transformer diagnostics and transformer commissioning for substations.
• Direct testing activities and manage field crews, contractors, and junior engineers.
• Develop field procedures, commissioning standards, and acceptance criteria.
