Job summary

Forgent Power seeks a Sr. Field Service Engineer to act as the technical authority for commissioning and modernization of MV/HV power systems.

You will lead on-site field teams, conduct advanced diagnostics, and coordinate with customers for safe, compliant, and efficient system startup and ongoing maintenance. You will mentor technicians, drive safety compliance, and oversee complex testing and retrofit projects across substations and protection schemes, while interfacing with OEMs and project

Qualifications

11+ years of field experience with MV/HV switchgear, protection and control systems, or a related degree with demonstrated field competency.
Ability to lead field crews and manage on-site execution for complex commissioning and service events.
Strong electrical safety knowledge including LOTO and arc-flash controls.
Experience reading, troubleshooting, and redlining schematics and one-line diagrams.
Authority in transformer field testing and condition assessment, with IEEE C57 criteria familiarity.
Ability to develop commissioning/test plans and verify I/O from drawings.
Strong field report writing and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

Lead commissioning and startup of complete electrical systems, including acceptance testing and performance verification.
Serve as primary technical escalation point for advanced control and protection issues.
Plan and perform advanced diagnostics for equipment and protection/control issues.
Execute and direct testing (insulation resistance, relay logic verification, SCADA/RTU I/O checks).
Lead transformer diagnostics, SFRA/DFR, DGA, moisture, and insulation testing.
Direct transformer repair, refurbishment, and retrofit programs and oversee LTC work.
Provide on-site safety leadership and manage field crews, contractors, and junior engineers.
