Job summary

Forgent Power is seeking a Sr. Field Service Engineer to serve as the technical authority for complex field service, commissioning, and modernization of power systems. You will lead on-site diagnostics, coordinate with project teams, mentor technicians, and ensure safe, compliant execution.

The role emphasizes transformer condition assessment, advanced diagnostics, and system integration, with travel to customer sites and strong emphasis on safety and quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Requires 11+ years field experience with MV/HV switchgear, protection and control systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead field crews and manage on-site execution for complex commissioning events.
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices (NFPA 70E/OSHA or equivalents) and risk controls.
• Ability to read, troubleshoot, and redline schematics and one-line diagrams; willing to travel extensively.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning and startup of complete electrical systems, including acceptance testing and performance verification.
• Serve as primary technical escalation point for advanced control, protection, and integration issues.
• Plan and perform advanced diagnostics for equipment and protection/control issues; perform extensive field testing.
• Lead transformer field testing, condition assessment, and diagnostic program execution.
• Direct testing activities and manage field crews, contractors, and junior engineers.
