Job summary

Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Field Property Adjuster to independently manage moderate to high-value property claims across Traverse City, Michigan and the Northern Lower Peninsula.

This remote, full-time role requires advanced investigation, evaluation, and negotiation skills with travel on short notice. You will lead investigations, assess coverage, set reserves, document findings, and coordinate with legal, underwriting, vendors and agents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with claim handling.
• Typically requires 5-10 years of adjusting experience.
• Strong knowledge of local geography, regulations, and public safety agencies.
• Excellent negotiation and decision-making skills, including litigation and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage field property claims, including outside field investigations and CAT responses.
• Lead investigations, assess coverage, and issue documentation including reservation of rights.
• Identify opportunities to transfer risk and maintain comprehensive claim records.
• Set reserves, authorize payments, and coordinate with internal/external stakeholders.
• Mentor junior adjusters and ensure regulatory compliance and accurate reporting.
