Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Field Property Adjuster to independently manage moderate to high‑value field property claims in the Plainfield, New Jersey area. This remote, full‑time role requires advanced investigation, evaluation, and negotiation skills with travel on short notice.

You will lead investigations, assess coverage, set reserves, and mentor junior adjusters while ensuring regulatory compliance and high‑quality service to insureds and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with claim handling.
• 5–10 years adjusting experience with knowledge of regulations and geography.
• Strong negotiation, judgment, and decision-making including litigation.
• Clear written and verbal communication across varied audiences.
• Highly organized with ability to manage complex workflows.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage field property claims, including CAT responses.
• Lead investigations, assess coverage, and issue documentation.
• Identify subrogation opportunities and support recovery efforts.
• Maintain comprehensive claim records and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with legal, underwriting, vendors, and agents; lead cross‑functional meetings.
• Set reserves and authorize payments within authority; contribute to reserving accuracy.
• Mentor junior adjusters and contribute to training and best practices.
• Deliver empathetic, clear communication to claimants and stakeholders.
• Travel as needed; work on-site and remotely; handle high‑value claims.
