Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Field Property Adjuster to independently manage moderate to high-value field property claims across Traverse City, Michigan and the Northern Lower Peninsula. This remote, full-time role requires travel on short notice and advanced investigation, evaluation, and negotiation skills.

You will lead investigations, assess coverage, set reserves, coordinate with legal and underwriting teams, and guide junior adjusters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with claim handling.
• 5–10 years of adjusting experience.
• Knowledge of local geography, regulations, and public safety agencies.
• Strong negotiation and decision-making, including litigation & compliance.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage field property claims, including CAT responses.
• Lead investigations, assess coverage, and issue letters; escalate as needed.
• Maintain comprehensive claim records and regulatory compliance.
• Identify and assign subrogation potential; support recovery efforts.
• Coordinate with legal, underwriting, vendors and agents; lead cross-functional meetings.
• Mentor junior adjusters and support training initiatives.
• Deliver empathetic, clear communication throughout the claims process.
