Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Field Claims Specialist to cover the Northern Virginia area. This is a work-from-home role with daily travel to policy locations in a company vehicle. Occasional overnight travel may be required. CAT duty is a requirement of this role.

You will resolve serious exposure claims, provide leadership to junior staff, and coordinate with SIU and subrogation to combat fraud while maintaining excellent customer service for Nationwide customers.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience handling property claims, insurance processing or field claims adjusting.
• Proficient with Xactimate.
• Experience writing own estimates and handling claims start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Handle all assigned claims promptly and effectively, including complex and catastrophic losses.
• Determine proper policy coverages and apply standard methodologies to conclude cases.
• Open, close and adjust reserves according to company practices.
• Maintain knowledge of assigned insurance lines, guidelines, and changes; attend trainings.
• Know local repair procedures and pricing; provide leadership to less experienced staff.
• Collaborate with Special Investigation Unit and Subrogation to identify fraud and subrogation opportunities.
• Initiate and conduct follow-ups through claims systems and deliver exceptional customer service.
