Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Field Property Adjuster to handle moderate to high-value field property claims in the Springfield, Illinois area. This remote role involves independent investigations, reserving, and complex claim evaluation with travel on short notice.

You will lead investigations, assess coverage, and communicate clearly with claimants and stakeholders while ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in claims handling.
• 5–10 years of adjusting experience recommended.
• Strong Xactimate proficiency and regulatory knowledge.
• Ability to travel and manage field investigations.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage field property claims, including CAT response and outside investigations.
• Lead thorough investigations, assess coverage, and issue documentation including reserve setup and letters.
• Identify subrogation opportunities and coordinate recovery steps.
• Maintain detailed claim records and comply with regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and represent the company when needed.
• Mentor junior adjusters and support training initiatives.
