Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Field Property Adjuster to independently manage moderate to complex field property claims across the Springfield, IL territory in a remote, full-time/exempt role with field investigations.

You will lead investigations, assess coverage, and work with internal and external partners to drive timely, fair resolutions while traveling as required and maintaining meticulous documentation and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with claim handling.
• Typically requires 5–10 years of adjusting experience.
• Must hold appropriate state adjuster licenses and a valid driver’s license.
• Strong Xactimate proficiency, ideally Level II certified.
• Knowledge of local regulations, statutes and third‑party liability concepts.
• Excellent negotiation, judgment, and verbal/written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage field property claims, including CAT responses; set reserves and authorize payments within authority.
• Lead thorough investigations, assess coverage, issue rights reservations and letters; escalate when needed.
• Identify subrogation opportunities and coordinate recovery efforts with appropriate entities.
• Maintain detailed claim records, prepare findings and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with legal, underwriting, vendors, and agents; may represent the company in mediations or trials.
• Mentor junior adjusters and support training and development of best practices.
