Job summary

RESA Power currently seeks Field Tech professionals in Charlotte, NC to service, test, and maintain power transmission and distribution equipment. Roles include Field Tech, Power Systems Tech II/III/IV, with on-site work, on-call rotation, and adherence to safety procedures.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED with 1+ years in related fields, NETA/NEC/OSHA knowledge, and strong problem-solving and communication skills. A valid driver’s license is often required where applicable.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED and minimum 1 year of related experience.
• Knowledge of NETA, NEC, OSHA and NFPA standards.
• Experience with MCCs, breakers, relay testing, oil testing, infrared scanning, or military training in power production.
• Able to work safely and follow electrical safety procedures.
• Strong understanding of electricity and troubleshooting abilities.
• Clear verbal and written communication with customers and peers.
• Dependable with good judgment and organizational skills.
• Excellent customer service, time management and follow-up skills.
• Strong computer skills and Internet research for standards/products.
• Valid driver’s license for vehicle roles if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, start-up and data collection for LV–HV electrical systems (up to 500kV).
• Test and inspect switchgear, breakers and transformers; perform maintenance, testing and repair.
• Operate high voltage test equipment and perform start-ups on switchgear up to 500kV.
• Provide on-site corrective services and maintenance; troubleshoot transfer schemes.
• Rotate on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies promptly.
• Maintain compliance with all regulatory electrical safety standards.
