Job summary

Accura Engineering in Charleston, SC seeks a Sr. Construction Inspector to support Atlanta-area bridge and roadway projects with on-site inspections, QA/QC oversight, and mentoring of junior staff.

This role serves as SME for Developer activities, coordinates with IQF, reviews material certifications for Final Acceptance, and participates in pre-activity meetings. Night/weekend work may be required; travel to sites may occur.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology with 3 years roadway/bridge inspection experience; or
• Associate degree with 8 years; or
• High school diploma with 15 years' progressive inspection experience; or equivalent combination.
• Experience in transportation construction inspection including heavy civil, bridge and roadway projects.
• Thorough knowledge of specifications, standards, materials, methods, and equipment used in highway and bridge construction.

Responsibilities

• Identify and document deficiencies in roadway and bridge construction; communicate adjustments per contract specs.
• Conduct daily site visits to monitor work-in-progress against project specs.
• Mentor junior team members and review their work for QA/QC.
• Provide inspections and reports for bridge construction and OV activities.
• Supervise junior technicians performing OV audits and inspections.
• Act as SME on Developer activities including remediation and repairs.
• Monitor on-site construction and inspect materials per plans and provisions.
• Oversee sampling/testing and QA material verification per CQAP.
• Ensure material certification for Final Acceptance.
