Job summary

Accura Engineering seeks a Sr. Construction Inspector in Atlanta, GA. The role requires overseeing roadway and bridge construction, performing QA inspections, and mentoring junior staff.

You will ensure compliance with project specs, review materials, and serve as SME for Developer activities. Occasional night/weekend work and travel to sites may be required. The position emphasizes safety, plan-reading proficiency, and the ability to interpret complex construction documents, with a strong focus

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology with 3 years of progressive roadway/bridge inspection experience, or
• Associate degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology with 8 years of progressive roadway/bridge inspection experience, or
• High school diploma or equivalent with 15 years of progressive roadway/bridge inspection experience as OV or employee for a State Highway Agency, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in transportation construction inspection including heavy civil, bridge and roadway projects.
• Proficient knowledge of specifications, materials, and equipment in road and bridge construction.
• Ability to read and interpret complex construction plans and reports (BFI, pile driving, drilled shafts).
• Valid US Driver’s License and ability to pass MVR review.

Responsibilities

• Proactively identify and document deficiencies in roadway and bridge construction, and communicate adjustments for contract compliance.
• Conduct daily site visits to monitor work-in-progress and ensure materials/workmanship meet specs.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members and review work for QA.
• Provide inspections and written reports for bridge construction and OV activities.
• Supervise junior technicians performing OV audits and inspections.
• Serve as SME on Developer activities, including remediation and repair reviews.
• Monitor on-site Developer activities and inspect materials per plans and special provisions.
• Oversee sampling/testing in CQAP and verify QA data in Department database.
• Ensure material certification requirements for Final Acceptance are met.
• Perform contract administration and maintain documentation.
