Job summary

Luster National seeks Resident Engineers of various levels to support large heavy civil programs across highways, bridges, transit, aviation, and water facilities in the Seattle area. You will manage field contracts, oversee inspection teams, and ensure compliance with plans and specs on assigned work.

There is an active talent pool for upcoming needs; applicants are contacted when a project arises. Strong background in field contract administration and QA is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field, or equivalent combination.
• 5+ years of construction management and resident engineering experience on large, complex, heavy‑civil projects.
• Experience administering field construction contracts, submittals, RFIs, change management and progress payments.
• Experience overseeing inspection staff and field documentation on active construction sites.
• Knowledge of means/methods, QA, and field documentation standards.
• Ability to read, interpret drawings, specs, and schedules.
• Experience with project management software (Primavera P6, Unifier, Kahua, e-Builder).

Responsibilities

• Administer field construction contracts and hold contractors to plans and specs.
• Oversee inspection staff, field coverage, and documentation adherence.
• Serve as main liaison for contractor correspondence with agency staff and designer of record.
• Review submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings; coordinate responses with design team.
• Evaluate progress, verify quantities, and recommend progress payments.
• Analyze change requests and potential change orders; develop independent cost/schedule positions.
• Oversee QA activities, materials testing coordination, and nonconformance tracking.
• Monitor safety compliance and support incident reporting and corrective action.
• Coordinate with designers, utility owners, railroads, airports, and adjacent contracts to resolve field conflicts.
• Maintain complete construction records and as‑built documentation in PMIS; support audits/claims.
• Lead progress meetings, punch list, testing/commissioning oversight, and closeout documentation.
