Job summary

Luster National is seeking Field Engineers of varying skill levels to support large heavy civil programs: highways, bridges, transit, airports, and water/wastewater. You’ll verify on-site work against approved docs and keep field records to support project decisions.

We welcome candidates of different experience levels; duties escalate with experience. Responsibilities include monitoring activities, daily reports, submittal reviews, QA testing, and field condition documentation to sustain

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/construction/structural engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of field engineering/construction management on large heavy-civil projects.
• Ability to interpret plans, specifications, submittals against field work.
• Experience maintaining field records (daily reports, quantity records, site conditions).
• Knowledge of materials testing and QA documentation on heavy civil projects.
• Experience with document control and field documentation software (Bluebeam Revu, Procore, etc.).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily construction activities against approved plans and document progress.
• Prepare and maintain project field records, photos, logs, and daily reports.
• Verify installed quantities against contract pay items and assist progress reviews.
• Review submittals and shop drawings for conformance with contract documents.
• Coordinate RFIs among contractor, designer, and program team to avoid delays.
• Witness and document QA testing and record nonconforming work until corrected.
• Verify structures work against drawings before contractor proceeds.
• Compare schedule updates with field progress and flag deviations.
• Document field issues and changes to support claims with contemporaneous records.
• Support close-out, punch lists, as-built records, and turnover documentation.
