Job summary

Luster National is seeking Resident Engineers of various skill levels to support large, complex heavy civil infrastructure programs, including highways, bridges, transit, aviation, and water/wastewater projects. These positions run the field office on an assigned construction contract, administering the contract, overseeing inspection staff, and ensuring compliance with the plans and specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, construction engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of construction management, resident engineering, or construction engineering and inspection experience for large ($>500M), complex, heavy-civil infrastructure projects.
• Experience administering construction contracts in the field, including submittals, requests for information, change management, and progress payments.
• Experience overseeing inspection staff and field documentation on an active construction site.
• Working knowledge of construction means and methods, contract administration practices, quality assurance, and field documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Administer construction contracts in the field, holding the contractor to the plans, specifications, and contract requirements across assigned work areas.
• Oversee inspection staff and daily field coverage, and hold inspection assignments and daily documentation to the program’s standards.
• Coordinate with designers, utility owners, railroads, airport and transit operations groups, and adjacent contracts to resolve field conflicts before they reach the schedule.
• Review submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings, and coordinate technical responses with the design team.
• Maintain complete construction records, daily reports, correspondence, and as-built documentation in the program’s project management information system.
