Job summary

Luster National is seeking Field Engineers of various skill levels to support large, complex heavy civil infrastructure programs across highways, bridges, transit, aviation, and water projects in the United States.

You’ll verify that on-site work matches approved documents, maintain field records, track quantities and testing, and build the factual basis for decisions while coordinating with contractors, designers, and program teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, construction management, or structural engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of field engineering or construction management experience for large (> $500M), complex, heavy-civil infrastructure projects.
• Working knowledge of construction plans, specs, submittals, and RFIs, and ability to interpret them against field work.
• Experience maintaining construction field records (daily reports, quantity records, site conditions).
• Experience with construction materials testing, QA documentation on heavy civil projects.
• Experience with construction document control and field documentation software (Bluebeam Revu, Procore, etc.).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily construction activities against approved plans and permit conditions; document what was built and under what conditions.
• Prepare and maintain project field records, including daily reports, quantity records, photos, and logs of site conditions.
• Verify installed quantities and work in place against contract pay items; support review of progress payments.
• Review submittals, shop drawings, and material documentation for conformance with contract documents.
• Coordinate RFIs among contractor, designer of record, and program team; drive responses to closure.
• Witness and document acceptance testing and materials sampling; record nonconforming work until corrected.
• Verify structures work against approved shop and working drawings; ensure proper sequencing and safety.
• Compare schedule updates with observed progress and flag deviations impacting milestones.
• Document field issues and changed work to support change/claim positions.
• Support project close-out and turnover documentation.
