Actalent is seeking an experienced FEA Engineer to support the design and development of advanced reactor systems. The role emphasizes finite element analysis, Design-by-Analysis, and structural evaluations of pressure-retaining components using ANSYS and other simulation tools.

This contract position is remote-friendly but based out of Knoxville, TN, with pay $60–$90 per hour. The candidate should have 20+ years in engineering, a PE license (preferred), and a strong DBA/fatigue/creep analysis

Qualifications

• Extensive experience performing finite element analysis and structural engineering evaluations.
• Experience applying ASME Section VIII Division 2 Design-by-Analysis (DBA) methodologies.
• Proven ability to evaluate plastic collapse, buckling, ratcheting, fatigue, and creep behavior in pressure-retaining and structural components.
• Strong understanding of structural mechanics, pressure vessel design, and advanced reactor system components.
• Proficiency in performing static structural and transient mechanical FEA.
• Minimum of 20 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Ability to prepare high-quality engineering calculations, technical reports, and documentation that support design and code compliance.
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Attention to detail and a methodical approach to assessing structural integrity and potential failure modes.

Responsabilités

• Perform static structural and transient mechanical finite element analyses (FEA) for pressure-retaining and structural components.
• Conduct Design-by-Analysis (DBA) evaluations in accordance with ASME Section VIII Division 2 requirements.
• Evaluate structural integrity and potential failure modes, including plastic collapse, buckling, ratcheting, fatigue, and creep.
• Develop detailed engineering calculations, technical reports, and supporting documentation to justify design decisions and ensure traceability.
• Support component design, qualification, and code compliance activities for advanced reactor systems and related structures.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to evaluate complex systems and components and to integrate analysis results into design solutions.
• Use simulation tools to validate design concepts, optimize component performance, and identify potential design improvements.
• Communicate analysis results, assumptions, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders, both in written reports and in technical discussions.
