Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Engineer focused on advanced reactor system analysis through high-quality FEA and structural performance evaluations. You will analyze complex components under varying loads to assess integrity and guide design decisions.

The role emphasizes developing calculations and reports, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting design optimization in a remote work setting with paid holidays and PTO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience performing finite element analyses and structural simulations.
• Experience evaluating structural failure modes (stress, strain, fatigue).
• Proficiency with ANSYS or similar tools.
• Ability to develop engineering calculations and documentation.
• Approximately 20 years of relevant experience in structural analysis/FEA.

Responsibilities

• Perform static and transient FEA of complex components and assemblies.
• Evaluate structural behavior and failure modes including stress, strain, fatigue, buckling, ratcheting.
• Develop engineering calculations, technical reports, and analysis documentation.
• Assess designs against requirements to ensure structural adequacy and reliability.
• Support design optimization and qualification through analyses.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate results into design decisions.
