Job summary

Dominion Energy is seeking an Engineering Technical Specialist focused on FACTS and HVDC within Electric Transmission in Richmond, VA. The role emphasizes lifecycle management, system integration with existing AC networks, and collaboration across planning, procurement, and operations.

You will work with OEMs and EPCs, support maintenance strategies, and contribute to training and standardization efforts while operating under a hybrid schedule in a purpose-driven energy company.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in electrical transmission or substations.
• Experience with FACTS and HVDC equipment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles and project management.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME to FACTS and HVDC equipment programs, coordinating with planning, asset management, procurement and expansion teams.
• Collaborate on solving complex engineering challenges within Electric Transmission, integrating FACTS and HVDC with the AC network.
• Own lifecycle of FACTS and HVDC equipment—from technical requirements and RFx through FAT, installation plans, SAT, monitoring, warranty, and obsolescence planning.
• Drive engagement with OEMs, EPC contractors, and technology vendors specializing in FACTS/HVDC systems.
• Contribute to standardization efforts for EPC projects to ensure design and constructability consistency.
• Develop maintenance strategies for FACTS/HVDC reliability based on field experience and vendor recommendations.
• Create and present training materials and operational guidelines for field operations regarding FACTS/HVDC events.
