Job description
Manager, Energy Analytics and Consulting (Remote)

We are seeking a highly skilled Manager to join our Energy Analytics and Consulting team and help shape the future of the power system during a moment of rapid transformation. With a focus on grid‑interactive efficient buildings, distributed energy resources (DERs), district‑scale energy systems, and utility‑facing analytics, this role sits at the center of some of the most important challenges in clean energy today.

You will lead technically complex, high‑impact projects, guide multidisciplinary teams, and work directly with utilities, public sector agencies, and research partners to turn advanced analytics into real‑world solutions. This is an opportunity for a technically deep, impact‑driven energy professional who thrives at the intersection of software development, energy modeling, and data analytics, and who is motivated by seeing rigorous technical work inform real decisions.

Reasons Why You Will Love Working Here
  • Quality of life: Flexible workplace arrangements and work‑life balance
  • Investment in the community: Donation matching and volunteer opportunities
  • Investment in you: Tuition reimbursement, access to professional development resources, 401k matching, Employee Stock Purchase Plan
  • And many more (ask your recruiter for details)
What You Will Be Doing
Project & Client Leadership
  • Lead end‑to‑end delivery of energy analytics and consulting projects for utilities, government agencies, and research sponsors.
  • Translate client objectives in grid modernization, electrification, DER integration, and energy equity into actionable technical workstreams.
  • Ensure high quality deliverables that connect technical results to regulatory, programmatic, and business decision‑making.
  • Support proposal development and follow‑on business opportunities by shaping scopes, technical approaches, and value propositions.
Technical & Analytical Leadership
  • Oversee advanced building energy modeling, district‑scale simulations, and grid impact analyses, including electrification and load‑flexibility scenarios.
  • Guide development of data pipelines, modeling frameworks, and interoperable software tools for energy and DER analysis.
  • Provide technical oversight for analyses involving thermal systems, geothermal heat pumps, photovoltaics, storage, and demand flexibility.
  • Review and synthesize complex datasets and modeling outputs into clear insights for clients and stakeholders.
People & Team Management
  • Manage, mentor, and technically guide a growing team of energy analysts, modelers, and software developers.
  • Support staff development through coaching, technical review, and workload prioritization.
  • Foster a collaborative, high‑performing team environment across disciplines (engineering, data science, policy).
Stakeholder & Utility Engagement
  • Lead and participate in client meetings, technical workshops, and stakeholder discussions with electric and gas utilities.
  • Facilitate cross‑functional conversations across utility planning, program design, and research teams.
  • Communicate complex technical findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as engineering, architecture, energy systems, or data science.
  • 5+ years of experience leading or supporting energy analytics, modeling, or consulting projects focused on buildings, distributed energy resources, and/or grid planning, including work for utilities, public‑sector agencies, or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field such as engineering, architecture, energy systems, or data science.
  • Experience working with or advising electric and/or gas utilities.
  • Expertise in high‑performance buildings, district energy systems, electrification, and grid‑interactive efficient buildings (GEBs).
  • Hands‑on experience with energy modeling platforms, open‑source tools, and data‑driven analysis frameworks.
  • Experience leading interdisciplinary teams and mentoring technical staff.
  • Background in equitable energy program design, policy support, or community‑focused energy analysis.
  • Strong meeting facilitation and consultative engagement skills.
Professional Skills
  • Proven ability to define, document, and manage complex technical workstreams.
  • Strong communication skills and experience engaging with external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects in a multi‑project, fast‑paced consulting or research environment.
