Job summary

Rivian Automotive is seeking a Senior Field Service Technician who will serve as a technical expert and leader for complex vehicle repairs and field operations. The role blends service-center work with remote and on-site assignments, mentoring junior technicians and driving continuous improvement in diagnostics and repair processes.

Based at a service center with potential travel to remote locations or production plants, the candidate will use advanced tools to diagnose HV and CAN/LIN networks,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or recognized equivalency preferred.
• Graduation from an accredited automotive repair school or vocational program preferred.
• Minimum age of 21 years old with a valid driver's license and clean record.
• Ability to travel to regional locations or production plants as needed.
• Proficient in Windows/Mac environments, work order systems, and diagnostic docs.
• Physical capability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• State mechanic certifications where required by jurisdiction (e.g., Michigan).

Responsibilities

• Perform bumper-to-bumper diagnostics and complex repairs in service centers and field settings.
• Provide high-level remote diagnostics and guidance to field teams.
• Coach, mentor, and train junior technicians and internal partners.
• Use specialized diagnostic tools to resolve complex HV and network faults.
• Conduct road tests to verify repair quality and drive standardization.
• Oversee parts operations including ordering, receiving, and inventory management.
• Document feedback to field engineers and leadership; engage customers and suppliers as needed.
