Job summary

Layton Construction in Hawaii is seeking a Senior Estimator to manage and assist in creating accurate cost estimates for diverse projects. You will respond to Owners’ requirements with professionalism and lead preconstruction activities with Architects and clients.

The role requires extensive experience in hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating, plus proficiency in Destini Estimator, BlueBeam, and Revit. Strong leadership and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction related field or equivalent education and experience.
• Over seven years’ experience in estimating commercial construction projects, demonstrating competence in hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating.
• Possesses knowledge of all construction systems and disciplines to complete comprehensive cost estimates.
• Experience in estimating at all stages of design: conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents.
• Understands Target Value Design and uses up-to-date estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Prepares estimates and supplementary information for potential projects.
• Reads and improves contract documents; offers value-engineering and life-cycle cost options.
• Performs quantity take-offs, prices and analyzes data.
• Leads preconstruction efforts and coordinates with architects and owners.
• Solicits bids from subcontractors and suppliers; maintains contact listings.
• Prepares bid proposals and attends owner meetings during estimate development.
• Develops detailed project schedules and initiates special estimating projects.
