Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Senior Estimator to manage and assist in the preparation of estimates for diverse projects, ensuring cost accuracy and client satisfaction. The role reports to the SBU Executive or Chief Estimator and involves leading the preconstruction process with architects and Owners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction related field or equivalent education and experience.
• Over five years’ experience in estimating commercial construction projects including hard‑bid, design‑build and conceptual estimating.
• Knowledge of all construction systems including mechanical and electrical to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
• Experience in estimating at all design stages: conceptual, schematic, design development and construction documents.
• Proficiency with estimating software used by Layton and experience with Destini Estimator, BlueBeam, Assemble and related tools.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while coordinating team members.
• Familiarity with Target Value Design and bid strategies.

Responsibilities

• Prepares estimates and supplementary information for potential projects.
• Reads and improves contract documents; offers value engineering and life‑cycle cost options.
• Performs quantity take‑offs, pricing, and analysis of information.
• Leads preconstruction activities with architects and owners.
• Solicits bids from subs; analyzes pricing and competitiveness.
• Develops and analyzes bid proposals for submittal and attends owner meetings.
