Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Senior Estimator to manage and assist in compiling estimates for diverse projects, ensuring cost accuracy and responsiveness to Owners’ requirements. This role reports to the SBU Executive or Chief Estimator and emphasizes integrity, safety, and quality in every estimate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction related field or equivalent education and experience.
• Over five years’ experience in estimating commercial construction projects, demonstrating competence in hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating.
• Possesses knowledge of all construction systems and disciplines to complete cost estimates.
• Experience in estimating at all design stages: conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents.
• Familiar with Target Value Design and latest estimating software (Destini Estimator, BlueBeam, Assemble).

Responsibilities

• Prepares estimates and supplementary information for potential projects.
• Reads and improves contract documents and offers Value-Engineering and Life-Cycle cost options.
• Performs quantity take-offs, organizes, prices, and analyzes information.
• Leads preconstruction efforts with architects and owners and guides staff on special projects.
• Solicits bids from subcontractors and suppliers and analyzes pricing for competitiveness.
• Attends owner meetings during estimate development and prepares bid proposals.
