Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Pittsburgh seeks an experienced estimator to support Lead Estimators and the Preconstruction Manager during the preconstruction phase. You will help ensure complete, accurate estimates with current pricing data and subcontractor input.

The role emphasizes value engineering, budget controls, and GMP readiness, leveraging BIM for quantity take-off and visualization, and coordinating with trade partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum 8 years of experience in construction estimating.
• Ability to read contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
• Experience with GMP, value engineering and estimating processes using current pricing data.
• Knowledge of cost data and ability to provide quantitative/qualitative analysis

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Project Preconstruction Manager and Preconstruction Manager in estimating functions throughout preconstruction phase launch process.
• Coordinate trade partner bid lists with procurement for budget pricing and bidding.
• Lead review meetings with owner, architect, and engineer related to Preconstruction phase.
• Prepare comparison analysis to previous estimates and develop messages to explain variances for stakeholders.
• Review design documents and gather information needed for complete estimates.
• Utilize BIM for quantity take-off and visualization to support estimate preparation.
