Job summary

The City of Myrtle Beach is seeking an Equipment Operator, Senior to perform semi-skilled to skilled work operating motorized equipment to maintain and repair city grounds, sewers, and streets, and to provide solid waste collection services.

Responsibilities include operating equipment in sanitation, water/sewer, parks, and streets, serving as lead worker when needed, and ensuring safety procedures are followed. A CDL is required, with duties across divisions as assigned.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in equipment operation.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Operates a range of medium to heavy equipment in sanitation, water/sewer, parks, and streets.
• May serve as lead worker providing guidance to crew members and reviewing work.
• Follows safety procedures and directs traffic; uses protective gear as required.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections and maintains related documentation.
• Performs daily preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
• Completes forms, reports, and work orders; communicates with supervisors and departments.
