Job summary

The City of Myrtle Beach is seeking an Equipment Operator to maintain and repair city grounds, streets, sewers, and related infrastructure. The role requires operating light to medium equipment, performing inspections, and following strict safety protocols.

Responsibilities include landscaping duties, special event support, and routine maintenance. Applicants must possess a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license. This is a full-time, on-site position with benefits.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; no experience required though some experience in equipment operations desired.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license is required.
• Ability to operate and maintain a variety of light to medium equipment.
• Knowledge of safety practices and ability to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment in golf course, solid waste, water/sewer, parks, stormwater, or streets.
• Adheres to safety procedures and uses safety equipment.
• Drives and operates equipment for maintenance of streets and parks.
• Conducts pre- and post-trip inspections and reports issues.
• Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
• Assists with landscaping duties and city projects.
• Communicates with supervisor and public to coordinate work.
• Maintains forms, reports, work orders and logs.
• Operates a variety of machinery including city vehicles.
