Job summary

City of Myrtle Beach is seeking an Equipment Operator to maintain and repair city grounds, sewers, stormwater conveyance systems, streets, and provide solid waste collection services. The role requires operating a range of machinery and performing preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities include inspections, reporting issues, and coordinating with supervisors. A high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; no experience required although some experience in equipment operations is desired.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment in golf course, solid waste, water/sewer, parks, stormwater, and streets.
• Drives or operates a variety of equipment to maintain streets, right of way, and parks under various conditions.
• Performs pre/post-trip inspections and reports needed repairs.
• Participates in preventive maintenance and minor repairs on vehicles and equipment.
• Performs landscaping duties, repairs sidewalks/curbs, and maintains irrigation systems as needed.
• Communicates with supervisor and other departments to coordinate work activities.
