Job summary

City of North Myrtle Beach seeks an experienced individual to operate heavy construction equipment with close supervision. You will guide Trades Workers, train new operators, and participate in maintenance and repair of machinery.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, two years of equipment experience, and a valid CDL at hire. Physical ability to lift heavy items and work irregular hours is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Two years of experience operating heavy construction equipment.
• Valid CDL required at hire.
• City retains the right to determine equivalencies.
• Must be able to lift and move heavy objects and operate a variety of tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as motor grader, backhoe, loader, and pavers.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
• Lead and train Trades Workers and other staff as needed.
• Plan, assign, and review work for crews in construction and maintenance tasks.
• Maintain maps and storm drainage records as required.
• On-call availability 24 hours on rotating basis.
