Job summary

Cytel invites a senior Associate Director to lead epidemiological statistical programming across RWE and regulatory-supported studies. You will mentor programmers, drive best practices, and deliver high-quality analyses in collaboration with epidemiologists, data scientists, and cross-functional partners.

You will develop scalable programming solutions, oversee complex datasets, and ensure timely delivery while championing reproducibility and standards across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics; advanced degree is a plus.
• 8+ years of relevant statistical programming experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO, healthcare, or life sciences industry.
• Experience with Optum and Truvita.
• Advanced programming expertise in SAS and/or R, with ability to develop, validate, and maintain complex analytical programs.
• Strong experience with large and complex healthcare data sources (claims, EHRs, registries, etc).
• Understanding of epidemiological study designs and methods; applying programming techniques to observational research.
• Ability to mentor colleagues, review approaches, and ensure quality.
• Experience coordinating programming activities across multiple projects and prioritizing deliverables.
• Experience overseeing and reviewing programming deliverables and line managing a team.
• Commitment to programming quality, reproducibility, documentation, and standards.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and functional leadership to epidemiological programmers, mentoring team members and promoting high-quality practices.
• Lead hands-on programming for epidemiological studies across therapeutic areas, translating objectives into robust solutions.
• Develop, validate, and maintain SAS and/or R programs to create analysis datasets, tables, figures, and outputs.
• Collaborate with epidemiologists, statisticians, and data scientists to select appropriate programming approaches.
• Provide expert consultation on complex programming challenges and best practices.
• Oversee and review deliverables for accuracy, reproducibility, and timelines.
• Support analyses using real-world data sources (claims, EHRs, registries).
• Develop analysis-ready datasets, data transformations, QC procedures, and documentation.
• Establish and promote programming standards, reusable tools, and code libraries.
