Job summary

Cytel is seeking an Associate Director, Epidemiological Statistical Programming to lead and mentor a team delivering complex epidemiological analyses. You will translate study objectives into reproducible SAS/R workflows, manage priorities, and collaborate with epidemiologists, statisticians, and data scientists across therapeutic areas.

You will develop analysis-ready datasets, oversee CRO partners when needed, and promote standards, quality, and automation to ensure high-quality evidence

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, computer science, data science or related quantitative field.
• 8+ years of relevant statistical programming experience in pharma/biotech/CRO/healthcare/life sciences.
• Experience with Optum and Truveta.
• Advanced programming in SAS and/or R; reproducible workflows.
• Experience with large healthcare data sources (claims, EHR, registries).
• Understanding of epidemiological study designs and observational research.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and functional leadership to statistical programmers supporting epidemiological and real-world studies.
• Lead hands-on programming for epidemiological studies across multiple therapeutic areas.
• Develop, validate, and maintain SAS and/or R programs for analysis datasets, outputs, tables and figures.
• Collaborate with epidemiologists, statisticians and data scientists to determine programming approaches.
• Provide expert technical consultation on complex programming challenges and best practices.
• Oversee and review programming deliverables for accuracy and quality.
• Support analyses using real-world data sources and ensure reproducibility.
• Develop analysis-ready datasets and programming specifications with quality controls.
• Promote standards, reusable tools, macros, and documentation across projects.
• Drive automation and efficiency improvements in programming activities.
