Job summary

Cytel, a leading provider of statistical programming services to the pharmaceutical industry, is seeking an Associate Director, Epidemiological Statistical Programming. This full-time role is embedded within a major pharmaceutical client program, delivering high-quality analyses with autonomy and ownership.

You will lead a team of statisticians and programmers, translate study objectives into reproducible SAS and/or R workflows, mentor colleagues, and ensure timely, regulatory-ready outputs

Qualifications

• 8+ years of statistical programming experience in pharma/CRO.
• Experience with epidemiological, observational and real-world evidence (RWE) studies.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor teams of programmers and analysts.
• Strong SAS and/or R programming expertise and reproducible workflows.
• Experience with large, complex healthcare data sources.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and functional leadership to statistical programming teams.
• Lead hands-on programming for epidemiological studies across multiple therapeutic areas.
• Develop, validate, and maintain SAS and/or R programs for analysis datasets and outputs.
• Collaborate with epidemiologists, statisticians, and data scientists to ensure accurate analyses.
• Provide expert consultation on complex programming challenges and best practices.
• Oversee and review programming deliverables for quality, timeliness, and reproducibility.
• Support studies using real-world data (claims, EHRs, registries).
• Develop analysis-ready datasets and programming specifications with proper documentation.
• Promote standards, reusable tools, and automation across projects.
• Drive continuous improvement and scalability of programming activities.
• Plan and prioritize activities, manage risks, and allocate resources.
